I have traditionally had a lot of trouble with smoothies. Even when I use recipes, they always somehow end up tasting weird or downright nauseating. Today, though, I made a simply delicious breakfast smoothie that tasted great, didn't use too many ingredients, and gave me enough energy to chase my little brothers around all morning! It sounds like a very small thing; but after having my smoothie maker for a year and making myself sick to my stomach almost every single time I use it, this was a pretty exciting morning for me! :-D
Here is the recipe I used:
Apple-Cinnamon-Peanut Butter Breakfast Smoothie
- 1 apple, peeled, cored, and cubed
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (the "vanilla" part is very important. I've tried plain yogurt before and it's not the same.)
- 1/2 cup milk or a little more for a thinner smoothie
- 2 heaping tablespoons of quick oats
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar - optional; I threw it in at the last minute because I've had issues with my smoothies being too salty in the past (from the peanut butter)
I just threw everything together in the blender and blended it for about 1 minute or so. And it turned out absolutely scrumptious!! I planned to take a picture and post it, but it never looks quite as good on the screen as it does in the cup ... ;-)
I hope you're having a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Vicki
